St Michael's urgently needs to be equipped with up-to-date amenities if it is to remain a viable and
community minded Christian presence for the 21st century. Last year every home in the parish received
details of our project
to provide a toilet, some kitchen facilities and a comfortable meeting room
(all with disability provision), within the Tower space. Since then members of the growing congregation have responded enthusiastically to the challenge of tackling the target of £90,000. Many have raised funds by their own initiative and within 3 months have contributed some £1,500. Meanwhile the appeal committee has approached a wide variety of sources of grant aid but, although some support has been received, we have yet to succeed in attracting the major sums we need to ensure the work can go ahead. (There are no sources of funding available from central Church or Government agencies for this type of work). However we are determined that the project will be achieved and are aware that our case for seeking grants is greatly strengthened if we are able to show that the parish as a whole has given support as fully as possible. If you would like to know more about the project, or would like to be involved in the appeal in some respect, I or another member of St Michael's, will be happy to talk with you. Fr.
